Lisa's Fall Pear Almond Soup Recipe

I offer this recipe as a preventive measure and cure for most coughs. As coughs are taken seriously in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) it is always best to consult with your acupuncturist about the nature of your cough. If not treated correctly, or suppressed, the toxins trying to come out of your body may re-manifest at a later stage or season as some type of rash, other skin condition, or illness. There is a special relationship in TCM between the Lung and Large Intestines. Keeping both organs at the correct moisture levels and perfectly balanced so that toxins can appropriately leave the body are always of concern. This simple, delicious recipe can be used as a special snack or dessert and give moisture to both the Lung and Large Intestine.

  • 1 Pear of any variety chopped

  • 1 Handful of raw almonds

  • 1 cup of water

Place all ingredients in a pot over the stove on high and bring to boil. Cover and turn stove off. Let cool down and serve. You can drizzle honey and/or sprinkle with cinnamon to your taste. Have fun with this recipe and adjust the cooking time of the ingredients and add other fall spices like nutmeg, ginger, cloves, allspice, etc. to play with different textures and tastes. Enjoy!
