An Acupuncturist's Notes on Treating Morning Sickness

Acupuncture is most often sought during pregnancy to treat morning sickness, as it is a natural, non-invasive treatment. Concerned mothers-to-be seek safe and effective remedies and acupuncture remains one of the safest medical modalities available with no side effects. Here are the most common morning sickness solutions that my patients have reported as being the most effective. I have used these in conjunction with acupuncture prescriptions using needling and massage techniques with wonderful success. - Consuming at least 50-60 grams of protein every day (for example Brewer’s diet) - Eating protein every 4-5 hours (even setting an alarm to wake to eat at night) - Pregnancy Pops (pops made with essential oils) - Ginger chew candies or ginger tea - Phosphorus 700 mg per day - Curing pills - a Chinese herbal remedy - Zi Su Ye Chinese herbal tea - If the tummy area is cold, place a warm pack on the area - Methylated folate 2mg a day - Vitamin B6 30-60mg a day - Eating grapefruit or popsicles have also been used with some success
