Lisa Swanson, L.Ac.

Acupuncturist, Grass Valley, CA

Lisa Swanson studied at the Acupuncture Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, CA and became a Licensed Practitioner (L.Ac.) in 2008.  Part of her education was completed at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, CA where she participated in an UCSF exchange program. She has been working in the field of natural medicine for over 15 years, and has steadily built on her knowledge and credentials, always with an eye for expanding her ability to offer the best treatments to serve her patients.

Prior to opening her own practice, Lisa worked and interned at a variety of Clinics in California including:

  • California Pacific Medical Center in Stroke Recovery

  • Kuan Yin Healing Arts HIV and Hepatitis C Clinic

  • HAART Methodone Addiction Clinic

  • Clinics in Berkeley and Oakland treating low income families

  • Women’s Cancer Resource Center, Oakland

  • Charlotte Maxwell Cancer Clinic, Oakland

Having learned from Dr Richard Tan, Lisa proudly practices the Balance Method which has been derived from the I Ching. This is an ancient method of acupuncture, over 2,500 years old, and is different from most local point acupuncture practiced in the United States which can be uncomfortable and have inconsistent results. The Balance Method provides amazing, effective results, experienced immediately.  This is achieved by correct meridian diagnosis based on the location of symptoms.  A complex grid system is then utilized to select appropriate distal points, which render precise, immediate results.

Other techniques and modalities are added to acupuncture treatments depending upon individual needs. These may include:

  • Cupping

  • Moxibustion

  • Tui Na

  • Infrared

  • Gua Sha

Lisa typically uses Japanese needling techniques which she has found to be the most gentle and painless needle insertion method.  Consultations may also include the use of essential oils, hands on healing, muscle testing, and advice on nutritional and herbal supplements.
